(1) This Order may be cited as the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Land) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 21st March 2001.
(2) In this Order—
“the Agreement” means the agreement entered into on 18th September 1998 by the Secretary of State with Grosvenor Waterside Investments Limited, Associated British Ports and Capital Waterside Management ( No. 1) Limited, concerning the grant or variation of leases over certain properties in Cardiff Bay in the county of Cardiff, including the Site and the Pierhead Buildings;
“the Assembly” means the National Assembly for Wales;
“the Pierhead Building” means the land and buildings in Cardiff Bay in the county of Cardiff known as the Pierhead Building, and referred to in the Pierhead Building Lease as “the Premises”;
“the Pierhead Building Lease” means the Lease dated 1st October 1998 whereby the Pierhead Building was leased to the Secretary of State by Grosvenor Waterside Investments Limited for 15 years from 29th September 1998;
“Plot 1E” means the plot of land in Cardiff Bay in the county of Cardiff described as Plot 1E in the Site Lease;
“the Secretary of State” means the Secretary of State for Wales;
“the Site” means that part of Plot 1E referred to in the Site Lease as “the Premises”; and
“the Site Lease” means the Lease dated 1st October 1998 and registered at Her Majesty’s Land Registry, Swansea under title number WA890692 whereby the Site was leased to the Secretary of State by Grosvenor Waterside Investments Limited for 150 years from 29th September 1998 for the purpose of building a debating chamber for the Assembly.
