Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 1 st September 2003.

Section 2 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

In these Regulations, “the 2000 Regulations ” means the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations 2000 .

Section 3 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

The 2000 Regulations shall be amended in accordance with regulations 5 and 6.

Section 4 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

These Regulations shall not have effect in relation to an academic year (as defined in regulation 2(6) of the 2000 Regulations) which begins before 1 st September 2003.

Section 5 Amendment of the 2000 Regulations

(1) Regulation 3 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (2)(a), there shall be omitted the words “the amount of which is not calculated by reference to his income”.

(3) After sub-paragraph (iv) in paragraph (2)(a), there shall be added –

(v) any allowance, bursary or award made by the General Social Care Council under section 67(4)(a) of the Care Standards Act 2000 which includes payment for meeting additional expenditure incurred by the student by reason of his disability; or

Section 6 Amendment of the 2000 Regulations

(1) Regulation 9 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph (2) for “£5,245” there shall be substituted “£5,370”.
