Section 1

This Order may be cited as the Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 1st September 2003.

Section 2

The Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order 2002 is hereby revoked.

Section 3

The Teacher Training Agency (Additional Functions) (No. 2) Order 2000 is amended as follows.

Section 4

In the definition of “graduate teacher” in article 2(1), substitute the following sub-paragraph for sub-paragraph (b) —

(b) participates in an employment-based teacher training scheme referred to in paragraph 10 of Schedule 2 to the Education (School Teachers' Qualifications) (England) Regulations 2003 or undertakes teacher training as if for the purposes of that paragraph by virtue of paragraph 5 or 6 of Schedule 1 to those Regulations; and

and omit sub-paragraph (c).

Section 5

In article 4 —

(a) omit “and” at the end of paragraph (c); and

(b) at the end of paragraph (d) insert “; and” and the following paragraph —

(e) an independent school in respect of which proposals under section 28 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 have been published, have been approved under paragraph 3 of Schedule 6 to that Act and are required to be implemented by virtue of paragraph 5(1) of that Schedule.
