Section 1Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the M6 Toll Wide Load Routes (Speed Limit) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 25th September 2003.

Section 2Imposition of speed limit

(1) No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour on any carriageway forming part of the wide load route which bypasses any of the following toll lane areas on the M6 Toll motorway—

(a) the off-slip toll lane area at Junction T3;

(b) the on-slip toll lane area at Junction T3;

(c) Weeford Park toll lane area on the M6 Toll motorway southbound carriageway;

(d) the off-slip toll lane area at Junction T4;

(e) the off-slip toll lane area at Junction T5;

(f) the off-slip toll lane area at Junction T6;

(g) Great Wyrley toll lane area on the M6 Toll motorway northbound carriageway.

(2) In this regulation—

(a) “wide load route” means the carriageway which bypasses the toll lane area and is shown by a sign as being for use by vehicles where the vehicle, its trailer or its load exceeds 2.9m in width at any point along its total length;

(b) “toll lane area” means the areas of carriageway and the adjacent raised areas, on which the toll-booths are located, between the toll lane entry barrier and the toll lane exit barrier.
