Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2003.

(2) In this Order, “ the Act ” means the Co-operatives and Community Benefit Societies Act 2003.

Section 2 Appointed days and application

(1) The day appointed for the coming into force of sections 2 and 3 of the Act is 1st April 2004.

(2) The day appointed for the coming into force of sections 4 to 6 of the Act is 20th October 2003.

(3) Section 4 of the Act (purported contracts, deeds and obligations) shall only apply to contracts or deeds made, and obligations undertaken, on or after 20th October 2003.
