Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2003.

(2) In this Order “ the Act ” means the Adoption and Children Act 2002.

Section 2 Appointed day

3rd February 2003 is the appointed day for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act—

(a) paragraph 53 of Schedule 3 to the Act (the Adoption (Northern Ireland) Order 1987 ( S.I. 1987/2203 (N.I. 22) )) and section 139(1) of the Act in so far as it relates to that paragraph;

(b) sub-paragraph (1) of paragraph 4 of Schedule 4 to the Act (regulation of adoption agencies) and section 139(2) of the Act in so far as it relates to that sub-paragraph.
