The Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2003

Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 14 April 2003.

Section 2 Amendment of the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996

(1) The Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In Part I—

(a) in paragraph 1(2), at the end of section F, there shall be added the following title and number:

(b) at the end of paragraph 1(2), after section M, there shall be added the following:

(c) in paragraph 2(1), for “£74” there shall be substituted “£76”.

(d) in paragraphs 3(a) and (f), for the words “survey or inspection” there shall be substituted the words “survey, inspection or audit”.

(e) after paragraph 3(h), there shall be added the following:

; and

(i) any issue or re-issue of a statutory certificate or the issue of a letter of acceptance in lieu of a statutory certificate.

(3) In Part VII, for paragraph 1 there shall be substituted the following:

(1) —

(1) Registration of ship (including registration of ship whose registry has expired)

(2) Registration of transfer of ownership of a registered ship

(a) one transfer

(b) where more than one transfer in relation to a ship is lodged at the same time

(3) Renewal of registration under regulation 42 of the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Regulations 1993

(4) Registration of mortgages

(a) one mortgage

(b) where two or more mortgages of the same ship and in relation to the same loan are lodged at the same time—

two mortgages

three mortgages

four mortgages

five mortgages or more

(5) Registration of notice of intended mortgage

(6) Issue of duplicate certificate

(7) Issue of transcripts of entries in the Register relating to any one ship:

(a) for current entries

(b) for other entries

(8) Personal inspection of the Register

(9) Registration of change of name of a ship

(10) Registration of change of port of choice

(11) Registration of change of measurement, tonnage or engine particulars recorded in the Register

(12) Transfer to a port in a British possession

(13) Transfer from a port in a British possession

(14) Application to the Registrar for provisional registration of a ship

(15) Registration of a ship following provisional registration by the Registrar

(16) Issue of a certificate of registry for a small ship in Part III of the Register, including an amended certificate or a duplicate copy of the certificate

(17) Issue of a transcript of entries in Part III of the Register relating to any one ship—

(a) for current entries

(b) for other entries

(18) Application to register a submersible craft

(4) In Part VIII, for paragraphs 1 to 15 and the final paragraph beginning with the words “Where two or more changes” there shall be substituted the following:

(1) Registration of a vessel (including registration of a vessel whose registry has expired):

(a) with full registration

(b) with simple registration

(2) Registration of transfer of ownership of a registered vessel:

(a) with full registration

(b) with simple registration

(c) where more than one transfer in relation to the ship is lodged at the same time——

(i) with full registration

(ii) with simple registration

(i) with full registration

(ii) with simple registration

(i) with full registration

(ii) with simple registration

(i) with full registration

(ii) with simple registration

(3) Renewal of registration under regulation 42 of the Merchant Shipping (Registration of Ships) Regulations 1993

(4) Change of registered vessel from simple to full registration

(5) Registration of mortgage:

(a) one mortgage

(b) where two or more mortgages of the same vessel and in relation to the same loan are lodged at the same time—

(6) Registration of notice of intended mortgage

(7) Issue of duplicate certificate

(8) Issue of transcript of entries in the Register relating to any one vessel:

(a) for current entries

(b) for other entries

(9) Personal inspection of the Register

(10) Registration of change of name of vessel

(11) Registration of change of port of choice and/or port number

(12) Registration of change of measurement, tonnage or engine particulars recorded in Register

(13) Application to the Registrar for provisional registration of a vessel

(14) Registration of a vessel following provisional registration by the Registrar

(5) In Part XII, in the Table, the entries listed in the third column headed “ Other surveys, inspections and tests, per hour or part thereof ” shall be amended as follows:

(a) for the entries in paragraphs 1 and 2, there shall be substituted—

(6) In Part XIII, for “£74” there shall be substituted “£76”.
