These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Mandatory Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 1st September 2004.

The Education (Mandatory Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
In these Regulations, “the principal regulations” means the Education (Mandatory Awards) Regulations 2003 .
The principal regulations shall be amended in accordance with these Regulations.
(1) Regulation 2 shall be amended in accordance with this regulation.
(2) For “Swiss Agreement” there shall be substituted “Switzerland Agreement”.
(3) The following shall be inserted after the definition of “Metropolitan Police District”:—
“new academic term” means any academic term beginning on or after 1 September 2004;
“new payment” means a payment made under these Regulations as amended by the Education (Mandatory Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2004;
“old payment” means a payment which would have been made under these Regulations if they had not been amended by the Education (Mandatory Awards) (Amendment) Regulations 2004.
(1) Regulation 6 shall be amended in accordance with this regulation.
(2) The following shall be substituted for paragraph (3)—
(3) The payment to be made in relation to any new academic term shall be a new payment, and the payment in relation to any other academic term shall be an old payment, and a payment in relation to any year shall be calculated accordingly.
(3) Paragraph (4) shall be omitted.
For paragraph (iii) of Schedule 1, there shall be substituted:
(iii) in the case of a course at the University of Buckingham, £2,705 payable in four instalments of £676, £676, £676 and £677; in the case of a course at the Guildhall School of Music, £4,150 payable in three instalments of £1,383, £1,383 and £1,384; and in the case of a course at Heythrop College, £2,045 payable in three instalments of £682, £682, and £681.
The figures in the third column of the table in the Schedule shall be substituted for the figures in the second column where they appear in the provisions of the principal regulations which are set out opposite to them in the first column.
