Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Rules may be cited as the Local Elections (Principal Areas) (Amendment) (No. 2) (England and Wales) Rules 2004.

(2) These Rules come into force on 30th April 2004.

(3) These Rules extend to England and Wales.

Section 2 Amendment of principal areas rules

(1) The rules in Schedule 3 to the Local Elections (Principal Areas) Rules 1986 shall be amended as follows.

(2) In rule 24(5A), for “this paragraph and paragraph”, substitute “paragraph (5) above and paragraphs”.

(3) In rule 39(1A), for “sub-paragraphs (d) and (e)”, substitute “sub-paragraphs (a) to (d)”.

(4) In the Appendix of Forms, in the directions as to printing the ballot paper, in paragraph 2(b), after the words “particulars of the candidates”, insert “and the horizontal rules separating the particulars of the candidates”.
