Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Directions may be cited as the Traffic Signs (Amendment) General Directions 2004 and shall come into force on 27th May 2004.

Section 2 Amendment of the Traffic Signs General Directions 2002

(1) Direction 42 of the Traffic Signs General Directions 2002 is amended as follows.

(2) At the end of paragraph (5) insert “and, if coloured yellow, may be—

(a) reflectorised;

(b) fluorescent; or

(c) both reflectorised and fluorescent”.

(3) For paragraphs (6) and (7) substitute—

(6) Except as provided in paragraph (7), a yellow backing board for a sign shall be rectangular in shape.

(7) A backing board for a combination of the sign shown in diagram 2402.1 with the sign shown in diagram 670 may be of any shape including rectangular.
