Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 1st September 2004.

Section 2 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

In these Regulations, “the 2000 Regulations ” means the Education (Grants for Disabled Postgraduate Students) Regulations 2000 .

Section 3 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

The 2000 Regulations shall be amended in accordance with regulations 5, 6 and 7.

Section 4 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

These Regulations shall not have effect in relation to an academic year (as defined in regulation 2(6) of the 2000 Regulations) which begins before 1st September 2004.

Section 5 Amendment of the 2000 Regulations

(1) Amend regulation 2 as follows.

(2) In paragraph (1), for the definition of “Research Council or similar body” substitute—

“Research Council” means a research council mentioned in paragraph (7);

(3) In paragraph (7)—

(a) at the end of sub-paragraph (a), for “Council; and ” substitute “Council.”; and

(b) omit sub-paragraph (b).

Section 6 Amendment of the 2000 Regulations

In regulation 3(2)(a)(iii), for “similar body” substitute “the Arts and Humanities Research Board”.

Section 7 Amendment of the 2000 Regulations

In regulation 9(2), for “£5,370” substitute “£5,500”.
