Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages in respect of the Third Key Stage) (England) (No.2) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 1st August 2004.

(2) In this Order “the Document” means the Document published by the Department for Education and Skills and the QCA entitled “Modern Foreign Languages, the National Curriculum for England, Key Stage 3” .

(3) This Order applies only to pupils in the third key stage at–

(a) a community, foundation or voluntary school; or

(b) a community or foundation special school not established in a hospital,

in England.

Section 2 Revocation

The Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages) (England) Order 2000 and the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Modern Foreign Languages in respect of the Third Key Stage) (England) Order 2004 are hereby revoked.

Section 3 Specification of attainment targets and programmes of study

It is hereby directed that the provisions relating to attainment targets and programmes of study set out in the Document shall have effect for the purposes of specifying attainment targets and programmes of study in relation to modern foreign languages.
