Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Science in respect of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages) (England) (No.2) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 1st August 2006, except for article 2(2) which shall come into force on 1st August 2004.

(2) In this Order “the Document” means the Document published by the Department for Education and Skills and the QCA entitled “Science, the National Curriculum for England, Key Stages 1-4” .

(3) This Order applies only to pupils in the first, second, third and fourth key stages at–

(a) a community, foundation or voluntary school; or

(b) a community or foundation special school not established in a hospital,

in England.

Section 2 Revocation

(1) The Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Science) (England) Order 2000 is hereby revoked.

(2) The Education (National Curriculum) (Attainment Targets and Programmes of Study in Science in respect of the First, Second, Third and Fourth Key Stages (England) Order 2004 is hereby revoked.

Section 3 Specification of attainment targets and programmes of study

It is hereby directed that the provisions relating to attainment targets and programmes of study set out in the Document shall have effect for the purposes of specifying attainment targets and programmes of study in relation to science.
