Section 1Citation, commencement, and application

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Local Authorities (Elected Mayors) (England) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 1st September 2004.

(2) These Regulations apply in relation to local authorities in England only.

Section 2Elected Mayor to be treated as member

An elected mayor of a local authority is to be treated as a member of the local authority for the purposes of subsections (1) and (3) to (5) of section 101 of the Local Government Act 2000 (indemnification of members and officers of relevant authorities).
