Section 1Citation, interpretation and application

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the General Social Care Council (Description of Persons to be Treated as Social Care Workers) Regulations 2004 and shall come into force on 1st April 2004.
(2) In these Regulations, “ the Act ” means the Care Standards Act 2000.
(3) These Regulations apply to England only.

Section 2Description of persons to be treated as social care workers

For the purposes of section 55 of the Act (interpretation), a person participating in a course approved by the General Social Care Council under section 63 of the Act for persons wishing to become social workers, shall be treated as a social care worker.
