Section 1 Citation, interpretation and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the General Social Care Council (Registration) (Description of Social Care Workers) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 1st April 2004.

(2) In this Order—

(a) “ the Act ” means the Care Standards Act 2000; and

(b) “student social worker” means a person participating in a course approved by the General Social Care Council under section 63 of the Act for persons wishing to become social workers.

(3) This Order applies to England only.

Section 2 Description of social care workers for the purposes of registration

Pursuant to section 56(1)(b) of the Act, a person who is a student social worker is hereby specified as a social care worker.
