Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Service Departments Registers (Amendment) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 7 th December 2005.

(2) In this Order “the 1959 Order ” means the Service Departments Registers Order 1959 .

Section 2 Amendment of the 1959 Order

The 1959 Order shall be amended as follows—

(1) In article 1(a) for the words “and marriages solemnised” there shall be substituted “marriages solemnised and civil partnerships formed”.

(2) In article 2(1) for the words “births and marriages” there shall be substituted “births, marriages and civil partnerships”.

(3) In article 2(2) for the words “births and marriages” there shall be substituted “births, marriages and civil partnerships”.

(4) In article 3(1) for the words “birth or marriage” there shall be substituted “birth, marriage or civil partnership”.

(5) In article 3(4)(c) there shall be inserted, immediately after sub-paragraph (c):

(d) in relation to a civil partnership, either party to the civil partnership.

(6) In article 3(5) for the words “birth or marriage” there shall be substituted the words “birth, marriage or civil partnership”.

(7) In article 3(6) in the two places in which the phrase “death, birth or marriage” is used there shall be substituted the phrase “death, birth, marriage or civil partnership”.

(8) In article 7(5) for the words “the death or marriage” there shall be substituted “death, marriage or civil partnership”.
