Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Minimum Age for Appointment) Regulations 2006 and shall come into force on 19th September 2006.

Section 2 Amendment of the Special Constables Regulations 1965

In regulation 1(c) of the Special Constables Regulations 1965 (qualifications for appointment) for “18 ½ years” substitute “18 years”.

Section 3 Amendment of the Police Regulations 2003

In regulation 10(1)(c) of the Police Regulations 2003 (qualifications for appointment to a police force) for “18 years 6 months” substitute “18 years”.
