Section 1 Citation, commencement and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Categorisation) (England) Order 2006 and shall come into force on 15th December 2006.

(2) This Order applies in relation to English local authorities .

Section 2 Categorisation report

The English local authorities (“authorities”), to which the report of the Audit Commission dated 31st August 2006 relates, are, by this Order, categorised in accordance with their categorisation in that report.

Section 3 4 Stars Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 1 to this Order are categorised as 4 stars.

Section 4 3 Stars Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 2 are categorised as 3 stars.

Section 5 2 Stars Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 3 are categorised as 2 stars.

Section 6 1 Star Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 4 are categorised as 1 star.

Section 7 0 Stars Authorities

The authority listed in Schedule 5 is categorised as 0 stars.

Section 8 Excellent Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 6 are categorised as excellent.

Section 9 Good Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 7 are categorised as good.

Section 10 Fair Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 8 are categorised as fair.

Section 11 Weak Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 9 are categorised as weak.

Section 12 Poor Authorities

The authorities listed in Schedule 10 are categorised as poor.

Section 13 Revocation

The Local Authorities (Categorisation) (England)(No.2) Order 2005 is revoked.
