Section 1 Citation, commencement and application

(1) These Regulations may be cited as The Education (Aptitude for Particular Subjects) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2006 and come into force on 27th February 2007.

(2) These Regulations apply only in relation to England.

Section 2 Amendment of The Education (Aptitude for Particular Subjects) Regulations 1999

(1) The Education (Aptitude for Particular Subjects) Regulations 1999 are amended as follows.

(2) At the beginning of regulation 2 insert the words “Subject to regulation 3”.

(3) After regulation 2 insert—

(3) The following subjects are prescribed in relation to admission arrangements for a maintained school in England for the school year 2008-09 and subsequent school years, only if the admission arrangements for that school made provision for the selection of pupils by reference to their aptitude in those subjects in relation to the school year 2007-2008—

(a) design and technology, or

(b) information technology.
