Section 1

This Order may be cited as The Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (Commencement No. 3 and Transitional Provisions) Order 2006.

Section 2

This Order does not extend to Northern Ireland.

Section 3

Subject to article 5, the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions is 1st January 2007—

(a) section 143 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (details to appear on election material);

(b) paragraph 14 of Schedule 18 to that Act (replacement of section 110 of the Representation of the People Act 1983).

Section 4

Subject to article 5, section 1(1) and (2)(a) of the Election Publications Act 2001 shall cease to have effect on 1st January 2007.

Section 5

The provisions specified in article 3 do not have effect, and section 1(1) and (2)(a) of the Election Publications Act 2001 continues to have effect, in relation to any election for which the date of the poll specified in the notice of election issued in relation to that election is on or before 2nd May 2007.
