These Regulations may be cited as the Student Fees (Inflation Index) Regulations 2006 and come into force on 31st March 2006.

Section 2Inflation Index
The index of prices to which the Secretary of State is required by section 26(3) of the 2004 Act to have regard in satisfying herself that any increase to the basic and higher amounts is no greater than is required to maintain the value of the amount in real terms, is the All Items Retail Prices Index Excluding Mortgage Interest Repayments published by the Office of National Statistics.
