Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Amendment) Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 1st June 2007.

(2) In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages Regulations 1968 .

Section 2 Amendment of the principal Regulations

(1) The principal Regulations are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 5(a)(vi), for “to exercise the functions of” substitute “as”.

(3) In regulation 5(b), omit ‘or any deputy registration office except the office of deputy superintendent registrar’.

(4) Regulation 8 is revoked.

(5) After regulation 9(2), insert—

(3) A person who holds jointly the offices of superintendent registrar and deputy registrar shall not perform any of the duties of the superintendent registrar in relation to any duties which he performs as deputy registrar.
