Section 1Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Gambling Act 2005 (Exempt Gaming in Alcohol-Licensed Premises) Regulations 2007 and shall come into force on 1st September 2007.

(2) In these Regulations—

“ the Act ” means the Gambling Act 2005, and

“poker” includes any version of that game, whatever name it is called.

(3) For the purposes of these Regulations, a reference to a day is a reference to a period of 24 hours beginning at midday.

Section 2Requirements in relation to stakes

(1) This regulation applies to the provision of facilities for equal chance gaming in accordance with section 279 of the Act, and prescribes, for the purposes of subsection (2)(a) of that section, requirements in relation to limiting amounts that may be staked.

(2) Subject to paragraphs (3) and (4), the amount that may be staked by a person on any game of chance , except dominoes and cribbage, must not exceed £5.

(3) Subject to paragraph (4) the aggregate of the amounts that may be staked on games of poker in any one day must not exceed £100.

Section 3Requirements in relation to poker prize

(1) For the purposes of section 279(2)(b) of the Act, the maximum amount or value of a prize that may be won in any game of poker is £100.
