Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Police (Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations 2008, and shall come into force on 7th March 2008.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

Section 2 Amendment to the Police (Promotion) Regulations 1996

(1) The Police (Promotion) Regulations 1996 are amended in accordance with these Regulations.

(2) In paragraph 5(1) of Schedule 1, insert “(1B),” after “sub-paragraphs”.

(3) In paragraph 5(1A) of Schedule 1, insert “(1B),” after “sub-paragraphs”.

(4) After paragraph 5(1A) of Schedule 1, insert-

(1B) A constable who is participating in the HPD Scheme is eligible to take Part I of the qualifying assessment for promotion to the rank of sergeant.
