Section 1 Citation and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) (Northern Ireland) Order 2008.

(2) In this Order, “ the Act ” means the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006.

Section 2 Provisions coming into force on 31st March 2008

31st March 2008 is the day appointed for the coming into force in relation to Northern Ireland of the following provisions of the Act—

(a) section 1 and Schedule 1 (Independent Barring Board);

(b) sections 59 (vulnerable adults), 60 (interpretation) and 61 (orders and regulations) in so far as they relate to the provisions set out in paragraph (a).
