Section 1 Citation, commencement and interpretation

These Rules may be cited as the European Parliamentary Election Petition (Amendment) Rules 2009 and come into force on 29th May 2009.

Section 2 Citation, commencement and interpretation

In these Rules—

(a) “the 1979 Rules ” means the European Parliamentary Election Petition Rules 1979 ; and

(b) a reference to a rule by number alone means the rule so numbered in the 1979 Rules.

Section 3 Amendments to the 1979 Rules

The 1979 Rules are amended in accordance with rules 4 and 5 of these Rules.

Section 4 Amendments to the 1979 Rules

Omit rule 2(5).

Section 5 Amendments to the 1979 Rules

In rule 5(2)(b)(ii), for “Commissioner for Oaths Ordinance” substitute “Commissioners for Oaths and Public Notaries Act 1953 ”.
