Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and extent

(1) This Order may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Designated Activities) (Northern Ireland) Order 2009.

(2) This Order shall come into force on 1st December 2009.

(3) In this Order “the 2001 Act ” means the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

(4) This Order extends to Northern Ireland only.

Section 2 Designated Activities

The activities set out in paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the 2001 Act (manned guarding) are designated—

(a) for the purposes of paragraphs (a) to (f) of section 3(2) of the 2001 Act with immediate effect; and

(b) for the purposes of the remainder of section 3 of the 2001 Act with effect from the 1 st April 2010.

Section 3 Designated Activities

The activities set out in—

(a) paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 to the 2001 Act (immobilisation of vehicles);

(b) paragraph 3A of Schedule 2 to the 2001 Act (restriction and removal of vehicles) ; and

(c) paragraph 6 of Schedule 2 to the 2001 Act (keyholders),

Section 4 Repeal of Schedule 6 to the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007

Schedule 6 to the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 is repealed.
