Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) This Order may be cited as the Vehicles Regulations (Amendment) Order 2010 and shall come into force on 27 th April 2010.

(2) An amendment contained in this Order has the same extent as the instrument or relevant part of the instrument to which the amendment relates.

Section 2 Amendments to the Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1999

The Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) Regulations 1999 are amended by inserting, in regulation 38(6)(a), after “a valid passport”—

or a valid identity card issued under the Identity Cards Act 2006

Section 3 Amendments to the Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) Regulations 2005

The Motor Cars (Driving Instruction) Regulations 2005 are amended by —

(a) inserting, in regulation 4(2)(b), after “a current passport” —

or a valid identity card issued under the Identity Cards Act 2006

(b) inserting, in regulation 4(4)(b)(i), after “passport”, “or a valid identity card issued under the Identity Cards Act 2006”.

Section 4 Amendments to the Vehicle Drivers (Certificates of Professional Competence) Regulations 2007

The Vehicle Drivers (Certificates of Professional Competence) Regulations 2007 are amended by inserting in Regulation 5A(3), after “passport”, “or a valid identity card issued under the Identity Cards Act 2006 ”.

Section 5 Amendments to the Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plate Suppliers) Regulations 2008

The Vehicles Crime (Registration of Registration Plate Suppliers) Regulations 2008 are amended by replacing, in paragraph 2(c) of the Schedule, the words “issued by the government of a state or of a territory other than the United Kingdom” with “(whether or not issued in the United Kingdom) ”.
