Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Police Authority (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2010 and shall come into force on 19th January 2011.

Section 2 Amendment of the Police Authority Regulations 2008

The Police Authority Regulations 2008 are amended as follows.

Section 3 Amendment of the Police Authority Regulations 2008

In regulation 19 (tenure of office), before the words “A person” insert “Subject to regulation 19A,”.

Section 4 Amendment of the Police Authority Regulations 2008

After regulation 19 insert—

Extension of existing terms pending abolition of police authorities

(19A)

(1) This regulation applies to a member referred to in regulation 6(1)(b) or 6(2)(b) whose term of office under regulation 19 would (but for this regulation) expire on or after 19th January 2011 but before 10th May 2012.

(2) The term of office of a member to whom this regulation applies shall, subject to regulations 14 to 17 (disqualification), 21 (resignation) and 24 (removal), be extended until 10th May 2012.

(3) But no term shall be extended under paragraph (2) if, on 19th January 2011, a person other than the member mentioned in paragraph (1) has already agreed to be appointed to the vacancy resulting from the expiry of the term of office mentioned in that paragraph.
