Section 1 Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the General Teaching Council for England (Disciplinary Functions) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and come into force on the day after the day on which they are laid before Parliament.

Section 2 Amendment of the General Teaching Council for England (Disciplinary Functions) Regulations 2001

The General Teaching Council for England (Disciplinary Functions) Regulations 2001 are amended as follows.

In regulation 8—

(a) in paragraph (1) omit sub-paragraph (c) and “and” immediately before it;

(b) in paragraph (3) for “, one registered teacher member” to the end substitute “and one registered teacher member.”;

(c) after paragraph (3) insert—

(3A) A member of the Council may not be appointed as a member of a Professional Conduct Committee or a Professional Competence Committee.

(d) in paragraph (6) omit sub-paragraph (c) and “and” immediately before it.
