Section 1 Citation and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Swindon (Electoral Changes) Order 2015.

(2) This Order comes into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on the day after it is made;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in 2015.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

“the 2014 Order ” means the Swindon Borough (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2014 ;

“ordinary day of election of councillors” has the meaning given by section 37 of the Representation of the People Act 1983 ;

“district ward” means a district ward established by article 3 of the Swindon (Electoral Changes) Order 2012 .

Section 3 Related alterations of district ward boundaries

(1) The area that ceases to be part of the parish of Blunsdon St Andrew and becomes part of the parish of Stratton St Margaret in consequence of article 10(1)(i) of the 2014 Order ceases to be part of Blunsdon and Highworth district ward and becomes part of Penhill and Upper Stratton district ward.

(2) The formerly unparished area that becomes part of the parish of Haydon Wick in consequence of article 10(3)(ii) of the 2014 Order ceases to be part of Penhill and Upper Stratton district ward and becomes part of Haydon Wick district ward.
