Section 1Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Statutory Sick Pay (General) (Coronavirus Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 28th May 2020.

Section 2Amendment of the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations 1982

(1) The Schedule (isolation due to coronavirus) to the Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations 1982 is amended as follows.

(2) In paragraph 1 for “5A” substitute “5B”.

(3) After paragraph 5A insert—

(5B) The person—

(a) has been advised by a relevant notification that he has had contact with a person who at the time of the contact was infected with coronavirus, and

(b) is staying at home until the end of the period of 14 days beginning with the latest date on which that contact occurred, or (if sooner) until the date specified in the latest relevant notification.

(4) In paragraph 6, after the definition of “public health guidance” omit “and” and insert—

“relevant notification” means a notification in writing sent to, or in respect of, a person by—

the Department of Health and Social Care;

Public Health England ;

Public Health Wales National Health Service Trust ;

the Common Services Agency for the Scottish Health Service ;

a person employed or engaged for the purposes of the health service (within the meaning of section 275 of the National Health Service Act 2006 or section 108 of the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 );

any other person employed or engaged by a Government Department or other public authority in communicable disease surveillance; and
