Section 1 Citation, commencement and extent

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (International Motor Insurance Card) (Amendment) Regulations 2021 and come into force on 12th July 2021.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales and Scotland.

Section 2 Amendment of the Motor Vehicles (International Motor Insurance Card) Regulations 1971

(1) The Motor Vehicles (International Motor Insurance Card) Regulations 1971 are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 3(1) (interpretation), in sub-paragraph (c) of the definition of “insurance card”, for “in, the Schedule to these Regulations;” substitute—

in—

(i) Schedule 1 to these Regulations, or

(ii) on or before 31st December 2022, Schedule 2 to these Regulations;

(3) In regulation 4(2), for “the Schedule” substitute “Schedules 1 and 2”.

(4) After regulation 4(2) (validity of insurance card) insert—

(3) The information that may be inserted in the top left-hand corner of the page of an insurance card that contains the particulars specified in Schedule 1 to these Regulations, is the logo of the Foreign Bureau or the British Bureau, as the case may be, under whose authority that card was issued.

(5) Before the Schedule, insert Schedule 1 that is contained in the Schedule to these Regulations.

(6) Renumber the existing Schedule as “Schedule 2”.
