The Superannuation (Admission to Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972) Order 2023

Section 1 Citation, commencement, and interpretation

(1) This Order may be cited as the Superannuation (Admission to Schedule 1 to the Superannuation Act 1972) Order 2023.

(2) This Order comes into force on 8th January 2024 but has effect from the dates specified in this Order.

(3) In this Order, “ the Act ” means the Superannuation Act 1972.

Section 2 Employments

(1) Schedule 1 to the Act (kinds of employment etc referred to in Section 1) is amended as follows.

(2) In the list of “Other Bodies”—

(a) with effect from 1st October 2021, insert “Employment by NHS England” ; and

(b) with effect from 25th March 1972, insert:

(i) “Employment by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration” ; and

(ii) “Employment by the Health Services Commissioner for England” .

(3) In the list of “Museums and Galleries”, with effect from 1st April 2022, insert “Employment by the Royal Air Force Museum” .

Section 3 Offices

(1) Schedule 1 to the Act (kinds of employment etc referred to in Section 1) is amended as follows.

(2) In the list of “Offices” with effect from 1st February 1976, insert the entry “The Certification Officer” .

Section 4 Scottish employments

(1) Schedule 1 to the Act (kinds of employment etc referred to in Section 1) is amended as follows.

(2) In the list of “Royal Commissions and other Commissions”—

(a) with effect from 1st July 2013, insert “Employment by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland” ; and

(b) with effect from 1st April 2021, insert “Employment by the Scottish Biometrics Commissioner” .

(3) In the list of “Other Bodies”—

(a) with effect from 1st October 2021, insert “Employment by Redress Scotland” ; and

(b) with effect from 15th November 2021, insert “Employment by the Scottish Rail Holdings Limited” .

Section 5 Scottish offices

(1) Schedule 1 to the Act (kinds of employment etc referred to in Section 1) is amended as follows.

(2) In the list of “Offices”—

(a) with effect from 1st July 2013, insert “The Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland” ;

(b) with effect from 1st April 2021, insert “The Commissioner of the Scottish Biometrics Commission” ; and

(c) with effect from 20th June 2022, insert “The Chair of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights” .

Section 6 Removal

(1) Schedule 1 to the Act (kinds of employment etc referred to in Section 1) is amended as follows.

(2) With effect from 1st July 2013, omit “Employment by the Commission for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland” from the list of “Royal Commissions and other Commissions”.
