The Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2023

Section 1 Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Alteration of Coroner Areas) Order 2023 and comes into force on 1st April 2023.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

“ coroner area ” means a coroner area specified in the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (Coroner Areas and Assistant Coroners) Transitional Order 2013 ;

“ new coroner area ” means the new coroner area resulting from the combining of the coroner areas set out in Articles 3 and 4.

Section 3 New coroner areas

The following coroner areas are combined to create the new coroner area of Newcastle and North Tyneside—

(a) Newcastle-upon-Tyne; and

(b) North Tyneside.

Section 4 New coroner areas

The following coroner areas are combined to create the new coroner area of West Sussex, Brighton and Hove—

(a) West Sussex; and

(b) Brighton and Hove.
