The Wealden (Electoral Changes) Order 2024

Section 1 Citation, commencement, extent and application

(1) This Order may be cited as the Wealden (Electoral Changes) Order 2024.

(2) This article and article 2 come into force on the day after the day on which this Order is made.

(3) Article 3 comes into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2024;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2027 .

(4) Article 4 comes into force—

(a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of councillors, on 15th October 2026;

(b) for all other purposes, on the ordinary day of election of councillors in England in 2027.

(5) This Order extends to England and Wales but applies in relation to England only.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order, “ the Council’s Order ” means the Wealden (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2023 .

Section 3 Alteration of county electoral division boundaries

In the parish of Willingdon & Jevington—

(a) the area of the parish ward of Watermill that becomes part of the parish ward of Lower Willingdon by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Polegate & Watermill county electoral division and becomes part of the Willingdon & South Downs county electoral division, and

(b) the area of the parish ward of Watermill that becomes part of the parish ward of Jevington by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Polegate & Watermill county electoral division and becomes part of the Willingdon & South Downs county electoral division.

Section 4 Alteration of district ward boundaries

In the parish of Willingdon & Jevington—

(a) the area of the parish ward of Upper Willingdon that becomes part of the parish ward of Lower Willingdon by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Upper Willingdon district ward and becomes part of the Lower Willingdon district ward,

(b) the area of the parish ward of Watermill that becomes part of the parish ward of Lower Willingdon by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Polegate South & Willingdon Watermill district ward and becomes part of the Lower Willingdon district ward, and

(c) the area of the parish ward of Watermill that becomes part of the parish ward of Jevington by virtue of the Council’s Order ceases to be part of the Polegate South & Willingdon Watermill district ward and becomes part of the Lower Willingdon district ward.
