Section 1 Citation, commencement, interpretation and extent

(1) This Order may be cited as the Firearms (Variation of Fees) Order 2025 and comes into force on 5th February 2025.

(2) In this Order “ the 1968 Act ” means the Firearms Act 1968.

(3) In this Order “ the 1988 Act ” means the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988.

(4) This Order extends to England and Wales and Scotland.

Section 2 Amendment to fees for firearm and shot gun certificates

In section 32(1) of the 1968 Act (fees for firearm and shot gun certificates)—

(a) in paragraph (a), for “£88” substitute “£198” ;

(b) in paragraph (b), for “£62” substitute “£131” ;

(c) in paragraph (c), for “£20” substitute “£47” ;

(d) in paragraph (cc), for “£4” substitute “£9” ;

(e) in paragraph (d), for “£79.50” substitute “£194” ;

(f) in paragraph (e), for “£49” substitute “£126” ;

(g) in paragraph (f), for “£4” substitute “£9” .

Section 3 Amendment to fees for registration as a firearms dealer

In section 35 of the 1968 Act (fee for registration and renewal as a firearms dealer)—

(a) in subsection (1), for “£200” substitute “£466” ;

(b) in subsection (1A), for “£13” substitute “£30” ;

(c) in subsection (3), for “£200” substitute “£466” .

Section 4 Amendment to fees for co-terminous certificates

In section 11(3) of the 1988 Act (fee for the grant or renewal of a shot gun certificate on the same occasion as the grant or renewal of a firearm certificate)—

(a) in paragraph (a), for “£2” substitute “£4” ;

(b) in paragraph (b), for “£28” substitute “£71” ;

Section 5 Amendment to fees for visitors’ permits
