The Football Governance Act 2025 (Suitability Determination Period for Owners and Officers) Regulations 2026

Section 1 Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation

(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Football Governance Act 2025 (Suitability Determination Period for Owners and Officers) Regulations 2026 and come into force on 2nd February 2026.

(2) These Regulations extend to England and Wales.

(3) In these Regulations “ the Act ” means the Football Governance Act 2025.

Section 2 Determination period for suitability assessments

(1) For the purposes of section 32(2)(a) of the Act, the determination period in respect of an application is 90 days beginning on the day after the IFR receives the application duly made in accordance with section 28 or 29 of the Act (as the case may be).

(2) For the purposes of section 32(4) of the Act, the determination period in respect of an application may not be extended under section 32(3) of the Act so that it exceeds a period of 150 days beginning on the day after the IFR receives the application duly made in accordance with section 28 or 29 of the Act (as the case may be).
