These Regulations may be cited as the Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme (Tax Exemptions and Relief) Regulations 2026 and come into force on 22nd July 2026.

The Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme (Tax Exemptions and Relief) Regulations 2026
In these Regulations—
“ Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme ” means the scheme announced by His Majesty’s Government on 19th March 2026 to compensate family members of postmasters adversely affected by the Horizon system;
“ the Horizon system ” has the same meaning as it does in paragraph 13 of Part 2 of Schedule 15 to the Finance Act 2020.
(1) A payment of compensation made by the Department for Business and Trade to a person under the Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme is a qualifying payment for the purposes of paragraph 3 of Part 1 of Schedule 15 to the Finance Act 2020.
(2) This regulation has effect in relation to payments received on or after 22nd July 2026.
(1) A payment of compensation made by the Department for Business and Trade to a person under the Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme is a qualifying payment for the purposes of paragraph 4 of Part 1 of Schedule 15 to the Finance Act 2020.
(2) This regulation has effect in relation to disposals made on or after 22nd July 2026.
(1) A payment of compensation made by the Department for Business and Trade to a person under the Horizon Family Members Redress Scheme is a qualifying payment for the purposes of paragraph 5 of Part 1 of Schedule 15 to the Finance Act 2020.
(2) This regulation has effect in relation to deaths occurring on or after 22nd July 2026.
