Section 1 Title and commencement

The title of this Order is The County Borough of Bridgend (Communities) Order 2009 and it comes into force on 1 December 2009.

Section 2 Interpretation

In this Order—

“the Regulations” (“ y Rheoliadau ”) means the Local Government Area Changes Regulations 1976 ;

“Map A” means the map marked “Map A of the County Borough of Bridgend (Communities) Order 2009” and deposited in accordance with Regulation 5 of the Regulations;

“Map B” means the map marked “Map B of the County Borough of Bridgend (Communities) Order 2009” and deposited in accordance with regulation 5 of the Regulations; and

where a boundary is shown on a map as running along a road, railway line, footway, watercourse or similar geographical feature, it is to be treated as running along the centre line of the feature.

Section 3 Interpretation

Changes are made in the local government area of the County Borough of Bridgend in accordance with the following provisions of this Order.

Section 4 Brackla and Bridgend — change in community areas

The part of the community of Brackla shown hatched area “A” on Map A—

(a) is transferred to the community of Bridgend;

(b) forms part of the Oldcastle ward of the community of Bridgend; and

(c) forms part of the electoral division of Oldcastle.

Section 5 Coychurch Lower and Bridgend — change in community areas

The part of the community of Coychurch Lower shown hatched area “B” on Map A—

(a) is transferred to the community of Bridgend;

(b) forms part of the Oldcastle ward of the community of Bridgend; and

(c) forms part of the electoral division of Oldcastle.

Section 6 Bridgend and Merthyr Mawr — change in community areas

The part of the community of Bridgend shown hatched on Map B—

(a) is transferred to the community of Merthyr Mawr; and

(b) forms part of the electoral division of Bryntirion, Laleston and Merthyr Mawr.
