Section 1 Title and commencement

The title of this Order is the Education (Small Schools) (Wales) Order 2014 and it comes into force on 22 May 2014.

Section 2 Identification of small maintained schools in Wales

(1) This article defines a small maintained school for the purpose of Chapter 1 of Part 2 of the Education (Wales) Measure 2011 (“the 2011 Measure ”).

(2) A small maintained school is a school that contains fewer than 91 registered pupils on the third Tuesday in the January immediately preceding the date on which a proposal is made under section 11 of the 2011 Measure.
