Section 1 Title, extent, application and commencement

(1) The title of these Regulations is the Official Controls (Extension of Transitional Periods) (Amendment) (Wales) Regulations 2022.

(2) These Regulations—

(a) extend to England and Wales;

(b) apply in relation to Wales;

(c) come into force on 30 December 2022.

Section 2 Amendment to the Official Controls (Extension of Transitional Periods) Regulations 2021

(1) The Official Controls (Extension of Transitional Periods) Regulations 2021 are amended as follows.

(2) For regulation 2 (end of the transitional staging period) substitute—

End of the transitional staging period

(2) In relation to Wales, for the purposes of sub-paragraph (b) of the definition of “the transitional staging period” in paragraph 2 (interpretation) of Annex 6 to Regulation (EU) 2017/625 of the European Parliament and of the Council on official controls and other official activities performed to ensure the application of food and feed law, rules on animal health and welfare, plant health and plant protection products, the appointed date is 31 January 2024.
